A meditative work photographed around a mysteriously alluring, local park in the Netherlands. Feeling uprooted in an unfamiliar, foreign environment and nursing hand injuries, Marinos found solace in the routine of wandering into the woods’ tangled pathways, one foot ahead of the other, with eyes searching the landscape for sparks of hope. Immersed in the unexpected nature of the park, speaking with strangers and all living things, creating new roots… we are invited along this journey with minds open to the unknown, letting the path ahead take us where it will.

Marinos Tsagkarakis is a fine-art photographer based in the Netherlands. He was born (1984) and raised on the island of Crete. His journey into the realm of visual arts began after completing a diverse academic background, including a Bachelor’s degree in Economic and Political Sciences (BEconSc), a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and a Master’s in Management Information Systems (MIS). Seeking to explore his passion for creativity more deeply, he embarked on a path of self-discovery in Contemporary Photography and Visual Arts, studying at the Stereosis School of Photography (SSP). Since 2014, he has been a member of the collective “Depression Era” that inhabits the urban and social landscape of the economic crisis in his home country.
His work has been exhibited in numerous international festivals, including Mois De La Photo (Paris), Jeju Biennale (South Korea), Unseen (Amsterdam), Fotofilmic (L.A & Vancouver), Athens Photo Festival (Athens), Photo: Israel (Tel Aviv), and several art spaces across Europe, and the USA. He has been featured in world-renowned media like Der Spiegel, L’Oeil de la Photographie, Collector Daily, Vogue, Der Greif, and Urbanautica Institute.
In 2017, it was published his first (out-of-print) monograph, “Paradise Inn,” by Void. Part of his artwork belongs to international private and public collections. Since 2019, he has collaborated with the Milan-based art gallery “OPR”.
